Teresa Goody Guillén launched and leads the first AmLaw100 law firm's Digital and Innovative Markets Group, designed to seamlessly integrate traditional financial markets and the rapidly evolving digital markets. She has been advising on bitcoin and altcoin legal and business matters since 2015, has held BTC since 2017, and is an investor in crypto-related projects. In conjunction with co-leading the law firm’s Web3 and Digital Assets group, her team is comprised of multidisciplinary attorneys who each have expertise in the the technical and legal aspects of both traditional financial markets and crypto. Her team provides strategic advice on bitcoin, altcoins, stablecoins, capital, commodities, and derivatives markets to to a wide range of market and ecosystem participants, , including traditional and crypto exchanges (CEX and DEX), ATSs, public and private companies, payment processors, liquidity providers, private equity firms, venture capitalists, hedge funds, ETFs, and trade associations.
Teresa also serves as a advisor to crypto and AI start-ups. Her practice includes regulatory and compliance guidance, conducting investigations, defending against enforcement actions, representing clients in litigation, and advising on business and transactional matters.
She is nationally recognized as a leader in crypto and securities enforcement. She is Chambers ranked for Blockchain & Crypto and named to the Securities Docket's SEC "Enforcement Elite." She is recognized by The Legal500 for Dispute Resolution and Corporate Investigations and has been honored as Litigator of the Week by The AmLaw Litigation Daily. She hosts a fireside chat series Bulls, Bears, and Blockchain, serves as co-leader of The Digital Chamber's Token Alliance, and has taught Digital law & Policy at Georgetown University. In addition to her JD, she earned an MBA and is a Cryptocurrency Tracing Certified Examiner and Certified Fraud Examiner. She was formerly with the SEC's Office of the General Counsel (~15 years ago).
